Ingredients:

  • 500g mutton (cut into small cubes)
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons mustard oil (or regular oil)
  • Salt to taste
  • Skewers (soaked in water if wooden)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade:

    • In a large bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, lemon juice, mustard oil, and salt.
  2. Marinate the Mutton:

    • Add the mutton cubes to the marinade.
    • Mix well to ensure the mutton is fully coated.
    • Cover and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4-6 hours (overnight for best results).
  3. Prepare the Grill or Oven:

    • Preheat your grill or oven to 200°C (400°F).
    • If using a grill, grease the grates lightly.
  4. Thread the Mutton on Skewers:

    • Thread the marinated mutton pieces onto the skewers.
    • Leave a little space between each piece for even cooking.
  5. Cook the Tikka:

    • Place the skewers on the grill or in the oven.
    • Cook for 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the mutton is cooked through and slightly charred on the edges.
  6. Serve:

    • Remove the skewers and serve hot with mint chutney, onion rings, and lemon wedges.
